Amcrest Camera Setup and Configuration for Dashboard Use
Amcrest Camera Setup - On-site:
1. Download the Amcrest app
- Install the Amcrest App on your iPhone or Android.
2. App setup (Smart Home Series)
After installing the app, login with the credentials of the person or team that will be managing the cameras then continue with the steps below.
3. Power on the camera
- Plug the camera into a power source.
- Wait approximately 30 seconds for it to initialize.
- The LED indicator should begin blinking green.
4. Add the device in the app
- Log into the Amcrest app.
- Tap the menu/add icon and select “Add Device.”
- If you do not already have an Amcrest account, you will be prompted to create one.
5. Scan the QR code
- Use your phone to scan the QR code on the camera’s serial tag.
- The QR code is typically located near the USB dongle, on the camera’s box, and/or on the back of the camera.
- If scanning fails, tap “Manually enter S/N” and enter the serial number.
6. Configure Wi‑Fi
- Tap “WiFi Setup” or “WiFi Configuration Setup.”
7. Connect to the camera hotspot
- The app will automatically connect to the camera’s temporary Wi‑Fi hotspot.
- On some Android devices, you may need to manually connect by adding the device using its serial number.
- If prompted, grant any required permissions and enter the default hotspot password (commonly: admin).
8. Set the camera password
- Create a new, secure password for the camera login. Keep this password as it will be used to tie the camera into the V1 dashboard.
9. Connect to the hub Wi‑Fi
- Select your hub’s Wi‑Fi network from the list and enter its password.
- The Wi‑Fi password will be provided by Smart Living Systems (SLS) and may already be included in the notes section on the location dashboard.
10. Finalize setup
- The camera’s LED will turn solid green once it is successfully connected.
- Assign a clear name to the camera (for example: home/location/area).
- Set the correct time zone.
- Tap “Start Live View” to complete setup

Amcrest Camera Configuration - Additional Agency Settings.
- Once cameras are paired in Amcrest
- Enable motion detection
- Disable Spotlight activation
- Disable push notification
- Select activity zone if applicable
- Set static IP for cameras on Amcrest app
- Steps to Set a Static IP in the App
- Open the Amcrest Smart Home app and select your camera.
- Tap the Settings (gear icon).
- Tap on Device Information.
- Tap on the IP Address field.
- Tap on the Wireless IP field and enter your desired static IP address. Make sure it is within your local network range and does not conflict with other devices.
- Tap the Save (check or save icon) to apply the settings.
- Send camera IPs and password aka 'configuration sheet' on camera (in Amcrest) to Hearo via ticket submission/

- Make sure “ShowinHome” is set to false
- Add camera as a sensor (SLS)
- Click Add next to Sensors on Location Details
- Select Amcrest Doorbell as Sensor Type
- Local ID – enter camera IP
- Sensor categories – add category to make rule for all devices in that category
- Click Update sensor, reload, open camera name
- Add Key: AUTO_UPLOAD_MP4; value False; Update Sensor
- Add Key: ENABLE_MOTION_DETECTION; value True; Update Sensor
- Add Key: AMCREST_PASSWORD; value (*Password used when setting up camera in amcrest app no perthesese); Update Sensor
- Now camera can be used to create new Rules for Location
